Before the synthesizer, electronic experimenters were already at work with another instrument, the tape recorder.
From 1948 to the 80’s there were instruments with keyboard where pressing their keys, you could push a length of magnetic tape against a capstan which pulls it across a playback head.
Many famous songs have been realized using these particular Taped Instrument Sounds and some have become an icon like Strawberry Fields Forever from The Beatles.
For some bands like The Moody Blues, King Crimson, Genesis, Oasis, Radiohead, the Tape sounds were a must have as well as for Progressive Rock genre but also a tasteful vintage flavor for many Pop productions.
Dexibell is now adding at its sound library 27 of the most used and famous “Taped Instrument Sounds” and they are available and freely downloadable, as additional Sound Library, at dexibell.com.
